Stairway to Heaven

Stairway to Heaven
Amicalola Falls State Park Hiking Trip

My wife and I started out this beautiful morning by driving 1 1/2 hours to the park with a picnic already to go. I'm a fat kid at heart to only weight a buck forty. We arrive at Amicalola Falls State Park with plenty of day light to spare and plenty of hypothermia to catch, it was so cold.

We started up the path toward the falls with a steep incline and a rocky slope, not even five minutes into the walk I discover a white gold ring sticking half way out of the ground. I'm sure some one will wonder if I gave it to the rightful owner, but there were no one insight, so I'm guessing a lady bear is pissed.

Twisting and turning, climbing to the nose bleed section of the wild, I could feel my ears popping and the air changing. Stopping at every cliff to enjoy an astronomical view, it would change your mind about nature. Be very careful of your steps near the edge due to a drop that would leave you shaky.

Nearing the top, i come to find that the walk has become more intense due to trenches that have been formed by some rushing water. Great news for any climber, A bathroom is indeed at the top of the climb.. ahhhhhhhhh... Sorry no picture , it just happened so fast :P

Reaching the top on a man made bridge, you stand over the water fall. viewing the distance that one just walked. It became so cold and windy that the picnic had to be cut short, and this led us to our next task of getting back down from the heavens.

My wife and I started down these winding stairs of about 425 to count, with all kind of people moving in every directions. Near the bottom of the 100th step was a great place for a photo and video opportunity, oh yes, I did take advantage of this one. My phone died and the camera was getting low and I was very tired at this point, so we both decided to take the rest of the steps to the car. completing the stair way to heaven climb down began us on a 1 mile hike back to the car, Wow, our legs were wobbly.

A great place to visit that offers exercise and photogenic opportunities to any one whom desire natures greatest design.
